Augusto Ferdanini from AgroMantaro shared their model to grow and process smallholder artichokes in the central highlands through a partnership with General Mills Foundation and Green Giant Europe. The themes discussed were the enabling factors for a successful inclusive business like AgroMantaro which sources from smallholder artichoke and pepper farmers. The factors in this case included entrepreneurs with long time industry expertise and relationships, a region of the country with optimum agroecological conditions for these crops and long term, stable trading relationships between the farmers, processor and branded companies in Europe and the US.
