Turning Agriculture Waste Streams into Value with Climate Benefits

This session featured two projects. Vera Espindola Rafael from UTZ Certified discussed their project turning wastewater from coffee processing into energy and the potential for scaling this approach. Andre Eitner from Soil & More explained the nuts and bolts of accessing carbon markets using agricultural residues for compost production and avoiding landfill emission. Presenters and participants discussed key questions about the role that carbon credits play in incentivizing projects, and how to scale from discreet projects to measuring to climate smart agricultural practices as practiced by a large number of smallholder farmers.
