Meet Ben Harris

Program Manager

A New Hampshire native, Ben grew up a stone’s throw from Sustainable Food Lab offices, but his career in agriculture out of college carried him westward, from Massachusetts to Colorado and most recently to California.

Returning to Vermont in 2022, he joined Sustainable Food Lab as Program Manager, Agriculture & Environment. Drawing on a varied background in agtech, research and commercial operations, and farmer engagement at industry associations, Ben focuses on finding the intersection points between farm-gate resilience and corporate climate, nature, and social sustainability targets. He is energized by the groundswell of interest in making site-specific soil health practices available and attainable to every producer, and his prior role at a beekeeping technology startup taught him the importance of moving beyond easy buzzwords and engaging in the difficult “kitchen-table” conversations that bring durable change. He’s thrilled to be supporting an organization that excels at exactly that.

When not wrestling with MMRV, greenhouse gas accounting, and other thorny questions facing regenerative agriculture, you can find him trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to wrangle ornery bees or dodging roots and rocks on his mountain bike. He holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Middlebury College.
