Study Finds Significant Reductions in GHG Emissions Among Egg Farmers: A Cool Farm Tool Case Study

Daniella Malin, our Senior Program Director of Agriculture & Climate, is a co-author of a new study on how to reduce GHG’s in commercial egg production published in the Journal of Cleaner Production. This paper describes work she led with Costco Wholesale using the Cool Farm Tool with the store’s organic egg supply base in a program of continuous improvement in agricultural sustainability. The interactive nature of the tool engaged the growers interest and led them to quickly find ways to reduce average GHG emissions. As a result of using the Cool Farm Tool, organic egg farmers reduced GHG emissions by twenty five percent over the course of the study.
