The Intersection between Climate Change and Coffee Digitalization
April 8, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Join Digital Coffee Future in the second part of a three part series on Climate Change and Coffee Digitalization. Our own Patrick Lawrence will join other panelist to share information and experience demonstrating a positive intersection between “climate-smart” solutions in coffee production and digitalization. The goal behind this session is to present to the audience a very concrete perspective of how different tools have been developed, piloted, assessed, and integrated among different scenarios and contexts. Because the most important aspect of scaling up the integration of digital tools for an effective widespread adoption is knowing the process behind it, learning the prerequisites for and challenges of tool implementation will support a greater understanding of how and in what context technology can play a role in creating effective solutions.
The case studies presented by each panelist will provide a concrete perspective on:
- A carbon calculation and monitoring tool applied to coffee production.
- An application system allowing producers to calculate the right quantity of inputs, identify and monitor pests and diseases, and predict the quantity of coffee production.
- A weather forecast process estimating the incidence rate of precipitation and the cost of connected farm interventions.
