Dairy Sustainability: A Learning Journey to US and Canadian Farms and Supply Chains
June 16, 2019 - June 19, 2019

Through farm visits and supply chain conversations, we will immerse ourselves in the dairy industry in Canada and the US. We’ll discuss the roles of supply chains, technical assistance, farmer-to-farmer learning, and public policy in creating the enabling conditions for sustainability. The learning journey will offer a unique chance to delve into when and why we might need to look beyond the supply chain and explore market structure solutions to farm viability. This conversation is not new in dairy farmer circles, but it is new, and perhaps challenging, for consumer-facing companies.
By comparing the US and Canadian dairy systems on-site, we’ll have a unique opportunity to explore how the structure of markets can be an enabler for economic and environmental sustainability. On both sides of the border, we’ll discuss challenges and opportunities that farmers and processors see, and relate those to other commodities like cocoa, vanilla and coffee.
To keep this event small and intimate, invitation is limited.
